4-Day Tour from Marrakech to the Desert

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorge

The 4-day journey from Marrakech to the desert begins with an exit to Ouarzazate. You’ll cross the High Atlas and the Tichka Pass (2260m). You will then travel to the village of Telouet from where you will take the old caravan road to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. Lunch and visit the Kasbah, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 4-day journey from Marrakech to Merzouga will continue in Ouarzazate. We will visit the film studios and the Kasbah of Taourirt. We will continue to the Dades Valley and its oasis in the mountains. We will cross the oasis of Skoura and visit the kasbah of Amridil. We continue our journey to the Valley of Roses and then drive to Bumaln. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Dades Gorges.

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

Breakfast at hotel. Departure for Todra Gorges. We drive through the town of Tineghir, located in a valley with palm groves and Berber villages. Lunch and visit Todga Gorge. Then departure for the desert of Merzouga. Through Tinjdad we will reach Erfoud, where we will visit fossils. After lunch we will continue to the Merzouga desert. Here we will take a camel ride before admiring the sunset over the dunes and enjoying traditional mint tea. Bonfire dinner accompanied by Berber songs. Overnight bivouac in the middle of the dunes.

Day 3: Excursion to Merzouga

After breakfast at the bivouac, you will travel by camel to the foot of the dunes, then explore the desert landscape, visit nomads in their tents, learn about nomadic life, then return to the village of Khamlia, famous for Gnawa musicians, and learn about Gnawa spiritual music. You will taste a mountain dish. Return to the bivouac on camelback. After riding the sandboard in the dunes, you will spend the second night listening to Berber music performed by locals. Dine around the campfire. Sleep under the starry sky of the Sahara.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Tazarin – Nkob – Agdz – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

The day back to Marrakech. Breakfast and camel ride to the foot of the dunes. Departure via Rissani to reach Alnif and Tazzarin. Continue along the acacia-lined road to N’kob and then through the beautiful Draa valley to the oasis of Agdz. Visit the kasbah of Tamnugalt. From there you will drive to Marrakech, passing Ouarzazate and the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. You will be driven to your accommodation in Marrakech.
